Learn how to make and play an elderberry flute with East Bay Regional Parks docent Antonio Flores who will talk about the craft and culture of Native Californian flute making as well as the endangered elderberry beetle. All materials will be supplied.
Your support for the Learning by Leading program helps us develop the environmental stewards of tomorrow. Also, ten percent of your gift to the Arboretum and Public Garden Annual Fund goes to the Friends of the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden Endowment which provides long-term support for our free, all-ages environmental education programs.
Recently we asked volunteers and supporters Jay and Terry Davison, longtime Friends of the Arboretum and Public Garden, to share their thoughts about why they have planned a gift to the Arboretum and Public Garden in their estate.
Thanks to Gladys Cosens for her $15,000 gift that kicked off the Waterway WOW campaign. Gladys was the Arboretum’s lead challenge donor for the UC Davis Give Day on April 21-22, 2017. Her Give Day challenge inspired over 60 other donors to make gifts in support of the campaign.
In November, we hosted our second annual volunteer plant swap. Over 30 volunteers came out with seeds, plants and supplies of all sizes to share their knowledge and gardens with each other.
Were it not for people like Nancy Crosby taking action during periods of crisis, like in 1971, when our budget was completely cut, the Arboretum would not exist.
